Jim Gibbs was first attracted to a family real estate business in 1973 as a part time venture while working in law enforcement and simultaneously pursuing a college degree.
Jim’s initial enrollment at the University of Nevada was as a declared major in secondary education. During the first two (2) years of college he qualified for and was licensed by the Nevada Department of Education as a teacher which included adult vocational education in law enforcement and criminal justice.
Upon graduation from the University of Nevada with a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice, Jim attended an additional two (2) years at Weber State College majoring in Law Enforcement. Attended numerous academies and schools with emphasis on administration, education, and real estate. Graduated valedictorian from the Reno Nevada Police Academy.
Jim continued to expand his teaching skills and hi instructor certification includes Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Instructor Certificate for the State of Utah, certification by the State of Nevada to teach vocational education in the area of law enforcement and criminal justice in public schools, Red Cross CPR/AED and Advanced First Aid, and instructor certification to teach ASP Tactical Baton, OC Chemical Spray, and the NRA Pistol Program. Jim is certified to substitute in public schools by the states of Nevada and Wyoming and in adult vocational education in Nevada. Jim attended the Tennessee Association of Realtor’s 16 hour instructor course in 2007.
Jim Gibbs is also a Certified Paralegal. He graduated from the Professional Career Development Institute with a specialty in civil litigation, real estate and criminal law. Jim served a college internship as a legal assistant to the city attorney for Reno Nevada, and as a law clerk for city attorney for Logan Utah and has been commended for prosecuting a criminal case as a police officer in Wyoming when the city attorney fell ill and was unable to attend the trial. Jim has authored courses on contract law, regulatory rules & procedures and criminal law.
Jim was recognized by the Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors in 2009 for 35 years of experience and dedication to the real estate industry. His diversified experiences include professional assignments in law enforcement, education, and real estate. Currently owner of the Career Institute which has offered education world wide to the law enforcement and real estate industry for more than 16 years.
Jim Gibbs was a member of the MTAR Education Committee for over 10 years, and served on the Grievance Committee. He has also taught leadership skills to aspiring Realtors seeking leadership positions in the Association of Realtors.
On two occasions, 2002 and again 2007 Jim Gibbs has provided real estate instruction through the use of interpreters to Russian real estate practitioners. The education was provided through the Productivity Enhancement Program (PEP) sponsored by the Center for Citizen Initiatives out San Francisco, CA in cooperation with various civic organizations in Tennessee.
Jim is a licensed Tennessee Real Estate Broker in good standing TREC #00261907 (Retired) broker/owner of Ideal Realty TREC #00255691(Retired) and current authorized sponsor of TREC continuing education credit under the name of the Career Institute TREC #1293.
Jim was recommended by three Tennessee Senators and two members of the Tennessee House of Representatives to serve Governor Bill Haslam as a member the Tennessee Real Estate Commission.
